Whole-person care rooted in clinical experience.

Dr. Kathleen Regan has been practicing naturopathic medicine in Toronto since 2010. Her approach combines clinical nutrition, evidence-informed natural therapies, acupuncture, craniosacral therapy, and individualized testing to create care that fits the real rhythms of each patient’s life.

She believes health begins with how and what we eat, and her primary clinical focus is nutrition. Drawing from both traditional and evidence-informed approaches, Kathleen works with patients to build sustainable habits and practical treatment plans — one step at a time.

Kathleen also takes a hands-on approach to care by integrating acupuncture and craniosacral therapy into treatment. These physical therapies allow her to listen closely to the body and support healing in a deeper, more connected way.

Her practice focuses on women’s health, family planning, prenatal wellness, holistic family care, pediatric care, elder care, digestive health, metabolic concerns, stress, fatigue, and complex chronic conditions. She also has a special interest in holistic support for children and adults with developmental and physical disability.

Understanding the person first, then the symptoms.

Kathleen’s clinical approach begins with careful listening, thorough assessment, and understanding how symptoms develop over time. Her goal is to understand the underlying patterns contributing to imbalance and identify practical ways to support long-term health.

Before completing her naturopathic training, Kathleen earned a Bachelor of Science in Research Psychology from the University of Toronto with a special interest in attention, memory, and neurodevelopment across the lifespan. She later worked in the medical-legal field as an analyst in brain injury and physical trauma, following complex cases over many years and developing a deep understanding of the Canadian healthcare system and collaborative patient care.

This background continues to shape her practice today through detailed history taking, active listening, pattern recognition across body systems, physical examination, and thoughtful use of laboratory testing and natural therapies.

Kathleen believes that small, consistent changes often create the most meaningful long-term health outcomes. Treatment plans are designed to be realistic, sustainable, and tailored to the realities of each patient’s daily life.

Why nutrition matters even in the most complex cases.

Why nutrition matters even in the most complex cases.

Over the course of her career, Kathleen has worked and volunteered across clinical, educational, rehabilitation, research, and community care settings supporting individuals with neurodevelopmental conditions, acquired brain injury, physical disability, and age-related cognitive change. These experiences gave her a broad understanding of how health challenges affect individuals and families across the lifespan, while also reinforcing the meaningful role that nutrition, lifestyle, supportive therapies, and daily habits can play in function, resilience, and quality of life.

Kathleen’s clinical perspective has also been shaped by personal experience supporting a child with complex medical needs. That journey deepened her understanding of the practical realities families navigate within healthcare systems and reinforced something she has long believed: small, sustainable changes can have a profound impact on health, quality of life, and a family’s ability to participate actively in care.

Frequently Asked Questions

What does a naturopathic doctor do?2026-06-11T20:07:34+00:00

A naturopathic doctor assesses symptoms, history, lifestyle, and often orders or reviews lab tests to identify contributing factors. They create a personalized plan that may include diet changes, supplementation, botanicals, mind-body strategies, and health coaching. They also help coordinate care with other providers and monitor progress over time.

Is naturopathic medicine evidence-based?2026-06-11T20:07:19+00:00

Some naturopathic treatments are supported by strong evidence (e.g., nutrition, exercise, sleep, stress reduction), while others have mixed or limited research. Evidence-based naturopathic care combines clinical research, clinician expertise, and patient preferences, and should include appropriate screening for safety, interactions, and when medical referral is needed.

What is naturopathic medicine?2026-06-11T20:06:18+00:00

Naturopathic medicine is a form of primary healthcare that focuses on prevention, whole-person care, and addressing root causes. Naturopathic doctors (NDs) may use nutrition and lifestyle counselling, supplements, herbal medicine, stress management, and lab testing to create individualized plans, often alongside conventional care.
